SUMMARY:Father's Day with live blues roots 'n folk
DESCRIPTION:Doors open 10am\, Lunch 12-3pm\, Live music from midday \nJojo Rainwater embodies the authentic sound of the Southern States of America\, his toe-tapping bluesy tunes are performed on homemade can/hubcap guitars accompanied by thump’n stomp-box beats. There is something vivid and profound about his tales of yesteryear entwined into his rootsy\, bluesy music. Jojo’s gutsy rhythms keep things movin’ right along and harmonise beautifully with a snifter of folk and gospel. \nThe American singer/guitarist was born August 16th 1962 in Memphis Tennessee not far from the muddy Mississippi river. He grew up with the rich mix of delta blues and gospel music in the air all about him. Jojo’s imagination was fired up to write songs by the stories of his grandma who picked cotton as a little girl under the hot Mississippi summer sun and a grandpa who was a union painter but also rode hobo on the train lines during the great depression. Jojo’s great grand mother was from the Ozark mountains in Arkansas\, she was a ‘Rainwater’\, a Cherokee name. This has inspired his stage name as Jojo feels a strong connection to his partially indigenous roots. Along the way there’s also been plenty of Scottish and Irish heritage added to the pot\, all helping to define his sound. \nJojo Rainwater has been consistently getting great reactions to his Southern Style music and story telling from audiences locally and abroad. Jojo’s most recent album is called ‘Legends of Black Rock Mountain’ . His song ‘ Prisonbound’ which was made in collaboration with Richard Pleasance is about to be released on the soundtrack to the new Jacobsen film: ‘Brother’s Nest’. So if you want to experience some unique\, original\, toe-tapping songs on homestyle\, homemade guitars and thump’n stomp- box beats\, Jojo Rainwater is your man….but don’t take my word for it\, take a listen yourself. \n
